about

Coming from the studio vaults of the ever active Dr. NoiseM is "Studio Works 18", a new sequel of the ongoing album series which includes a bunch of fifteen new and previously unreleased tracks for all lovers of experimental music. The journey starts with "Live Death", a brainwrecking 123 second excursion into Digital HarshNoize, continues with fright-inducing "Low Key Sonics" which provide a perfect sonic depictation of a icy world scarred by nuclear destruction before the 31 seconds of "MAGMA" bring in one wave of cold Death Ambient whilst "Sandpaper Love" is built of fluttering low frequencies reminiscent of low end speakers suffering from subsonic noise and fragile, alienating high frequency band pulses from outer space. The "Springspree" presents a more angelic approach towards the harmonic movements of what can be described as Minimal Ambient, "Summer Rain" comes at us like a heavy, filtered and kinda suppressed downpour indeed and "The Bass Duke" is all about the contrast of nearly inaudible bass shifts and brittle high frequency transmissions. With "The Horns Of Walhalla" we're served an amalgamation of heavy, muscular Death Ambient and monstrous, scraping low frequency blasts, the cryptically named "TS34OBC" defines digital HarshNoize brutalism for 2016 and the sound of the "Turbovibrator" pleases all those making love (or hate) to dark Rhythm Industrial on a regular. More cryptic character sequences come up with "UJ6g$ff_8j", unveiling a suprising, yet masterly crafted Speedcore explosion before the epic, slowly shifting 20+ minutes of "Unreleased 4" show once again, why Dr. NoiseM is the master of the Dark / Death Ambient underground these days. Furthermore we see "Wassereinlauf" dabble with an ever morphing low frequency hum and slightly (Neo)Cosmic synth movements for all those loving the musical vision of acts like Zombie Zombie etc. before entering a total modular crescendo, "Waterflow" caters 32 seconds of vibrant bass synths that could be well used as a great sound effect for an early 70s sci-fi flic and the final tune "We Go NASTY" is well recommended to all those fascinated by glacial, slow motion movements in Cold Ambient for a reason.
